Office Policies

APPOINTMENTS

 We closely follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for well-child visits & assessments. Please follow these general guidelines for scheduling appointments. any visits related to illness, injuries, or other concerns, call the office and speak with our staff to arrange appointments. We typically can accommodate "same day" appointments. "Walk-ins" are discouraged out of respect to you and other patients. We will work with you to get any emergency situation evaluated. Please call to cancel appointments as early as possible.

PRESCRIPTIONS & LAB RESULTS

We review medications that your child is taking at every visit. We will provide refills for any prescriptions at your well-child visits. If there is a medication you need refilled, please mention that at the beginning of your visit. You are also able to call the office and request refills. We will call you with lab results when they are available.

FEES & PAYMENTS

Currently we accept several insurances. Each company will have several plans with varying coverage. We will attempt to give you an accurate estimate of what your insurance covers. The final cost is determined by your company. Co-payments or full payment based on your insurance will be collected at the time of your visit. We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, American Express & Discover. We will file your insurance claims. It is your responsibility to follow up on reimbursement procedures with your insurance company. Our office staff can assist you if needed. Special consideration will be made for families who are financially unable to pay for medical services. Prior to your visit please direct any question regarding your account to our office manager.

PRENATAL VISITS

A prenatal visit is encouraged for first-time parents. This visit gives you the opportunity to meet Dr. Burton and her staff before the birth of your baby. We will share our philosophy of pediatric care and answer any questions you may have about the care of your newborn. The office manager can discuss insurance & billing for office visits with you at that time. There is no fee for the prenatal visit.

CALLING THE OFFICE

The best time to call the office to make an appointment or to ask about non-emergency situations is between 7:30am - 11:00am. Our nurses will call you back as soon as they are able. For non-emergency, after-hours calls, you may leave a message on the office answering machine and your call will be returned the following business day. The office number is 850-678-9009.

APPOINTMENT CANCELLATIONS 

We are committed to providing exceptional care. Unfortunately, when one patient cancels without giving enough notice, they prevent another patient from being seen. Please call the office at (850) 678-9009 at least 24 hours in advance of your child's scheduled appointment to notify us of any cancellations. If prior notification is not given, you will be charged a $50.00 cancellation fee.  

NO SHOWS

If your child misses their appointment, you will be charged a $50.00 no show fee for the missed appointment.

LATE ARRIVALS

If your child is going to be 10 minutes or more late for their appointment, please call the office at (850) 678-9009. Your child's appointment may need to be rescheduled. 

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY

After hours Dr. Burton is on call for emergencies. If you should have an urgent need to reach her after hours, call 850-543-9780

We are not accepting patients who do not vaccinate, or who follow an alternative schedules that will not complete the CDC recommended schedule by 18 months of age.
